My sister just forwarded this to me and I'll probably getting some hatin' on the blog-a-log for posting this but I really don't care. Because it's true, TRUE, true. Scary stuff!! If you ask what I look for in our next President; someone who's walked the walk and not just talked the talk. It's called Moral Authority... but that's a whole post on it's own. Here it is in black and white: 143 days:
You couldn't get a job at McDonalds and become district manager after 143 days of experience.
You couldn't become chief of surgery after 143 days of experience of being a surgeon.
You couldn't get a job as a teacher and be the superintendent after 143 days of experience.
You couldn't join the military and become a colonel after a 143 days of experience.
You couldn't get a job as a reporter and become the nightly news anchor after 143 days of experience.
BUT....
From the time Barack Obama was sworn in as a United State Senator, to the time he announced he was forming a Presidential exploratory committee, he logged 143 days of experience in the Senate. That's how many days the Senate was actually in session and working. After 143 days of work experience, Obama believed he was ready to be Commander In Chief, Leader of the Free World .... 143 days.
We all have to start somewhere. The senate is a good start, but after 143 days, that's all it is - a start.
AND, strangely, a large sector of the American public is okay with this and campaigning for him. We wouldn't accept this in our own line of work, yet some are okay with this for the President of the United States of America? Come on folks, we are not voting for the next American Idol!

I've been a long time blog reader & I typically enjoy reading your personal things. I would even enjoy a well thought-out, fact based opinion on your political beliefs. Posting an email forward that over-simplifies this issue and ignores the great complexities of this election and the people running is just a disservice to all of your blog readers. There are so many more legitimate reasons to vote for or against either candidate, that I really hope that you will take the time to become informed about both choices & not be swayed by propaganda from either side. And talk about experience and making people happy! ;)

Besides, the once-quiet role of VP has changed before our very eyes these past 8 years. Undoubtedly, the *cumulative* amount of experience between the President and Vice President will be taken into account as they go about their 4 years. So whether it's Obama-Biden or McCain-Palin in January, the aspect of cumulative teamwork will be a huge factor in how they go about business. And if you add up the resume's, it's about dead-even between the two parties. Should be a good one! September 13, 2008 at 4:30 PM
